★Nara Kasugano International Forum Iraka ~I・RA・KA~ is where Kofuku-ji Temple, the main temple of the Hosso sect, once built Shion-in to worship Kasuga Daimyoji, the deity enshrined on Ukigumo-no-mine, the summit of Mt. Mikasa-yama. After the Meiji Restoration, Shion-in was abolished due to the Haibutsukishaku. In 1987, to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the establishment of Nara Prefecture and to promote international exchange and traditional performing arts, Nara Prefecture New Public Hall was built in the birthplace of Noh drama, and opened on April 1st, 1989. In 2015, integration work was carried out with the adjacent Nara Park Silk Road Exchange Center, and it was reopened in July of that year. On April 1st, 2015, the name was changed from Nara Prefecture New Public Hall to Nara Kasugano International Forum Iraka ~I・RA・KA~.
★Todai-ji Temple is said to have originated from Kinshosen-ji Temple, which was built in 728 by the 45th Emperor Shomu and Empress Komyo to mourn the deceased Prince Motoi. In 741, Emperor Shomu issued a decree for the construction of Kokubun-ji Temple and Kokubun-niji Temple, and the following year, 742, Kinshosen-ji Temple became Yamato Kokubun-ji Temple. In 743, Emperor Shomu issued a decree for the casting of Great Buddha, and the casting of Great Buddha at Todai-ji Temple began in 745. After that, the casting of Great Buddha was completed in 749, Great Buddha Hall was completed in 751.
★Kofuku-ji Temple is said to have originated in Yamashina-dera Temple (Kyoto), where in 669, Kagami no Okimi, the wife of Fujiwara no Kamatari, prayed for the healing of her husband’s illness. In 672, the capital was moved to Asuka Kiyomihara-no-miya, and around that time Yamashina-dera Temple was also moved to Umayasaka, and was named Umayasaka-dera Temple. In 710, the capital was moved to Heijo-kyo, and Fujiwara no Fuhito moved Umayasaka-dera Temple to its present location and named it Kofuku-ji Temple.
★Kasuga Taisha Shrine is said to have originated about 1,300 years ago when Takemikaduchi-no-Mikoto, the deity of Kashima Jingu Shrine in Hitachi Province (Ibaraki), was invoked at Ukigumo-no-mine, the summit of Mt. Mikasa-yama. Then, in 768, Fujiwara no Nagate built a shrine building on the present site by order of the 48th Emperor Shoutoku, and enshrined Futsunushi-no-Omikoto of Katori Jingu Shrine (Chiba), Amenokoyane-no-Mikoto and Hime-Gami of Hiraoka Shrine (Osaka), together with Takemikaduchi-no-Mikoto.
